Mental Health Newsletter

Starting in middle school, all students have a School Counselor, and we are the first point of contact for answers to questions about - or support in - navigating school. We work with students, parents and teachers to make sure students are included, engaged and successful at school and in life.  We provide:

• Registration and scheduling of new and current students

• Planning, monitoring, and managing academic programming

• Support of school-wide SEL (Social Emotional Learning) practices

• Personal counseling

• Peer mediation and conflict resolution

• Data evaluation and progress monitoring

• Standardized test interpretation

• Crisis preparedness, response, and recovery

We collaborate with families, staff and community providers to address social, behavioral and mental health issues that impact a student's academic performance, and assist in intervening during times of personal, school or community crisis. We also connect families with helping resources in-school and out-of-school, and advocate for students whose needs are not being met. We provide:

• Student support groups, weekly lunch groups and ongoing individual support

• Targeted bursts of service for students with significant and/or urgent needs

• Behavioral intervention and development of Plans For Success

• Direct services for students on IEPs

• Service coordination for families

• Connection to school & community resources

• Crisis preparedness, response, and recovery 

We partner with families, teachers, school administrators, and other professionals to create safe, healthy, and supportive learning environments that strengthen connections between home, school, and the community. We apply expertise in mental health, learning, and behavior, to help students succeed academically, socially, behaviorally, and emotionally. We provide:

• Family-school-community collaboration to provide academic, mental health and behavioral support and interventions 

• Special Education evaluations 

• Data collection and analysis

• Interpretation of test results and special education law

• Progress monitoring 

• Crisis preparedness, response, and recovery
